Most of us understand that losing weight will give us more energy, lower our cholesterol, reduce our need for medication, and increase our self-esteem …Yet the fear of losing weight prevents us from reaching our goals and we may self-sabotage. Self-sabotage may occur on a subconscious level.
Some Methods of Self-Sabotage:
• Telling yourself that your diet is too difficult
• Telling yourself you are not disciplined enough to follow through.
• Worrying how you’ll be accepted at your goal weight.
• Enabling your fear for life without your protective fat barrier
• Worrying about how others will respond
• Believing that losing weight will lose your personality
• Wishing not to deal with jealous friends.
• Having excess hanging skin after you lose a lot of weight
• Believing that others will have higher expectation of you when weight lost
• Believing you are undeserving of success.
Most of us find success on “diets” for a short time before reaching a plateau or coming across “triggers” that cause them to get off track. When you cheat on your food plan, skip your workout, and revert to old eating habits you allow your subconscious to control your weight loss success.
First find your reasons to overeat and why you sabotage. Then control your emotions by creating a plan. If you analyze your excuses for staying unhealthy, you can determine if your excuses are valid.
We need to find out why we stand in the way of getting what we want so badly, good health.
