I have always been a very active person who enjoys sports, outdoor activities, and the gym. However, five years ago I hit a plateau. I was really tired of going to the gym to run on the treadmill, use the Stairmaster, or do the same old abdominal workout. Not only was I bored with the regular routine but my body was not changing or improving at all. I was the same weight and had little-to-no muscle mass. I simply could not get rid of that extra few pounds around my midriff. I began to search out ways to break the routine and put excitement back into the gym. Around this time I noticed Jari in what I thought was ‘just another aerobics class’. After her class I approached her and asked her how she was able to maintain such a lean body but also be blessed with muscle mass. I think my words were, “Okay how do I get abs like you?!”. She suggested I try her Ripped class because the combination of weights and cardio not only increase the number of calories burnt but also improves muscle tone. I decided to take her advice and attended my first ripped class approximately five years ago.

The first class was more than a challenge. I remember wondering if my arms could possible shake any harder or if there was any way I could do one more push-up without fainting. It was the hardest one hour work out I had ever done! My muscles were absolutely throbbing for at least five days after the work-out and I tried to avoid walking down stairs at all cost! I was shocked that I could be aching so badly especially since I had been fairly active my entire life. From that moment on I was hooked!

Over the last five years I have seen a transformation in my figure and athletic ability thanks to Ripped. I can ski harder, kick a soccer ball further, run faster, and feel much more attractive in a bathing suit! Ripped truly changed my life and I mean that in every sense of the word. Sounds a little over the top, I know, but believe it or not I actually met the man of my dreams at Ripped! Yes it is true, my husband Jason and I silently watched each other in class until we finally met! Jari frequently asked Jason to do exercises at the front of the class and that is where I first noticed him. Secretly, it was further motivation to attend class regularly.

It is not simply the aesthetic benefit that keeps me attending Jari’s Ripped classes but also the positive effects on my overall health. I work for a Medical Device company that supports and manufacturers a treatment for compression fractures related to Osteoporosis. I see women and men in the operating room that suffer from this disease on a daily basis. Fragile bones lead to painful fractures, debilitation, and reduction in quality of life. Weight bearing exercises can improve bone mass, therefore possibly preventing or halting the progression of this very painful and awful disease. The improvement in cardiovascular health and bone mass keeps me coming back for more of Jari’s killer classes.

Jason and I were recently blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Addyson. She is a bundle of joy and has certainly filled my hours with many diaper changes, baby classes, and play time. Despite being so busy with my new adventure I have managed to continue with my regular work-outs. I continued to attend ripped class both during and after my pregnancy and it has definitely helped me maintain a healthy weight. I was able to fit into my pre pregnancy jeans just five weeks after giving birth and I attribute that to Jari, her videos, and ripped classes!

I loved every moment of training for Jari’s videos and was so honoured that she included me as part of the incredible team. The women I trained with on a daily basis are fun, motivated, tenacious, and beautiful people on the inside and out. They taught me so much about fitness, nutrition, and confidence. The day after we completed filming the Ripped videos my husband Jason and I travelled to Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. We had the time of our lives and we are looking forward to health, happiness, and lots of adventures into the future.
