Hi, my name is Ellie Archer and I have been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. In my late teens and early twenties, I was going through challenges and adjustments emotionally. As a symptom of my unhappy state, I became overweight. I worked through these times with a lot of research, help and effort, and now at 48, I can honestly say that as I age, I find it actually easier to stay in shape than when I was younger. I believe the reason is simply due to my continued quest to eat better, and to find a more effective, and efficient way to train my body. Working with Jari Love supported my curiosity and simply was one big step in the right direction.
Jari and I met about 11 years ago at Archer Personal Training and when ever our schedules allowed we would get together to discuss health and fitness. I respected Jari from the get-go, and I knew this amazing lady with her remarkable work ethic would surely shine in the fitness world and wow, has she ever. A few years later her program was an epic hit. We collaborated again with IMPACT MAGAZINE and the Breakfast Channel in Calgary where we had the opportunity to share our thoughts with readers and viewers on healthy eating and foods for performance. We did this not from the academic point of view, but as we say in the industry “Trench Training” – i.e. learning what works by doing it.
After we were all done I was so excited when Jari asked me if I could join her for the new upcoming DVDs, Extremely Ripped and Extremely Ripped 1000. I thought it would be wonderful to work with Jari again and try a fresh angle on my fitness. All the gals were very proud and worked very hard to achieve the highest level of fitness and health and apply it to the making of this DVD to hopefully help as many people as possible achieve superior fitness levels right in their homes. Coincidentally at the time, I was also training hard for a black belt grading in Ninjutsu and I hoped the “marriage” of Jari’s DVD training and my Black belt grading would be complimentary to one another and, as it turns out, indeed they were as I got in the best shape of my 48 years. We had fun doing the DVD and Jari’s kind, humorous ways were so enjoyable. All the girls in the DVD were strong and exceptional, spirited ladies in their own way.
My husband and I now live in the remote British Columbia community of Bella Coola, the heart of bear country. Bears represent us to me. What we do to them we are doing to ourselves. When the bears go, we go. We are the bears and we are the forests. I live by this. We all are interconnected and a part of the web of life.
I do about three cardio sessions per week, but my life is very active outdoors. I eat simply and make up recipes as I go. Some good tasting, some not, but ALL are healthy. Organic foods support my ethical and scientific beliefs on food gathering. Fewer chemicals…healthy body.
I find that the locals are a very tough people due to the many arduous demands of this difficult landscape and Jari’s workouts have been a hit because there is a big return. It’s great that even in a tiny community we can fill the gym with those who enjoy the superior fitness efficiency of weights and steps. My sincere thanks to Jari, Britt and all the Get Ripped team for this wonderful experience…
As a last thought in my article I leave you with this. As we take care of ourselves, we too need to take care of those with whom we share the earth. In our lives we are deeply connected and dependent on the lives that surround us. As we destroy the forest, we destroy ourselves, as we destroy the oceans, we destroy ourselves, as we destroy the grizzly bear, so too we destroy ourselves. A healthy body, and healthy mind, and healthy concept of who we are, and just how do we fit into the living earth’s bigger picture…that is my final thought. Pay it forward I say… thank you Jari.
