Don't ask me why. Something just snapped. I said: "Self! Get your fat ...(you know what) off that couch and get to a gym!"
I walked into the Talisman Center, bought a membership, changed into some old runners and a pair of shorts that were way too tight from high school, went up to the t…

Most of us understand that losing weight will give us more energy, lower our cholesterol, reduce our need for medication, and increase our self-esteem …Yet the fear of losing weight prevents us from reaching our goals and we may self-sabotage. Self-sabotage may occur on a subconscious level.
Some Methods of
Self-Sabotage:
• Telling yourself that your diet is too difficult
• Telling yourself you are not disciplined enough to follow through.
• Worrying how you’ll be accepted at your goal w…

As I sit here on the eve of 2010, I am reflecting like most of us on how I did in the last year. Yet I truly love a new year. Most of us feel that we have a chance to “start over”. We can now start on our journeys to become healthy and happy and the person we always wanted to be. Yet the enthusiasm to make these changes to our health and wellness tends to fade once we realize that we cannot make these changes overnight. Our resolutions will only work if we work on these changes all year long by…

Regardless of the outcome, your positive attitude and social graces allow you to enjoy and live life well.

Hi, my name is Ellie Archer and I have been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. In my late teens and early twenties, I was going through challenges and adjustments emotionally. As a symptom of my unhappy state, I became overweight. I worked through these times with a lot of research, help and effort, and now at 48, I can honestly say that as I ag…

I have always been a very active person who enjoys sports, outdoor activities, and the gym. However, five years ago I hit a plateau. I was really tired of going to the gym to run on the treadmill, use the Stairmaster, or do the same old abdominal workout. Not only was I bored with the regular routine but my body was not changing or improving at all. I was the same weight and had little-to-no muscle mass. I simply could not get rid of that extra few pounds around my midriff.…
