I am a Jillian Michaels fan, I was browsing amazon and someone mentioned Jari Love. I googled her and was very inpressed with what I saw. Unfortunately I am still waiting for my 2 dvds to arrive, her dvds are not available in South Africa so it takes a long time to get your hands on them. There was only 2 available Get Extremely Ripped and Slim and Lean, I can’t wait to try them.
I have a few dvds that I have collected, Jillian Michaels, Tae Bo, The Firm. But I want more definition in my body and I am hoping this will help.
You are a real inspiration.
Greeting from South Africa
Thank you! You are so sweet! I really love Jari's videos. Before finding them, I was mostly doing TaeBo, walking, and running. But, since I started using weights, I have seen a big difference in my body....and my appetite..haha. I usually do Get Ripped 2-3 times a week. I have been trying to incorporate other weight/cardio videos lately. I just recently started doing Cathe Friedrich. I have only tried two videos so far, and I really like them. They seem similar to Jari's videos because they incorporate intervals of cardio alternated with strength/weight intervals. I like this concept because I feel like I work my whole body and burn a lot of calories...while getting a nice tone.
I do definitely have a sweet tooth. I agree with you...I work out hard...and a little sugar won't kill me :-)
I am not training for anything specific. I have been progressively adding intensity for a long time now. I have considered fitness competitions but am afraid that the strictness of the diet and extra time required to really compete would kill the joy of exercising for me. I really love my exercises now...so I have been a little afraid to take it to that next step.
I would say that this is the best shape I've ever been in. I was always in shape, cheering in school, but I feel like most people are "fit" when they are that young. I gained 20lbs about 5 years ago and had to turn my entire lifestyle around to get to where I am now. Now, I feel I have really earned any fitness successes I have.
What about you? Do you compete? Do you want to? You body is so cut...you would definitely do very well competing!
Hi Kirsten! Thank you for the compliment. You should definitely apply for Future of Fitness. You body is so inspiring. I was going to ask you the same questions about your diet and exercise schedule..haha.. I work out 5-6 days per week and eat most things in moderation. I try to avoid super bad foods..but I do like sweets...so they are usually calculated into my daily calories somewhere.
On Oxygen's website, they give instructions on how to apply for Future of Fitness. You submit up to five photos and answer a lot of questions about your life. I found out several months later when I saw my picture in the magazine...it was great.
So, what is your weekly schedule of workouts? Do you have a strict diet?

Hi Kirsten, yes a trip to hot weather for 2 weeks, can't wait! -15 sucks. At least Xmas will keep me occupied while I wait, busy, busy! I just have to try and stay away from the Xmas cookies - I can just go wild with those. I think I'll wait until the last minute to make some. Yes carbs seem to be a big thing for me - I didn't realize they were in all these things either. Jari used to say to me when I had a banana with my oatmeal "so how do you plan to burn off that banana", I just thought it was a banana with lots of calories, not the carb factor. Anyway, it takes a while but I clue in eventually ;)

Hi Kirsten,
Your photo shoot is great...you look amazing! And thanks for your tip re: Oxygen. I went on their website and found some really good recipes...try the Healthy MIx-Mash...took me about 15 minutes to make and was yummy!
Take care,
Lori

Hi Kirsten, that's really impressive to be LuLu's ambassador, good for you! Xmas shopping is started, long way from done though - what about you?
Well with the carbs I only just realized lately that they are higher in peas and carrots as opposed to cauliflower and brocolli (lightbulb moment I guess) - I don't know if you actually worry about that stuff or not, but for me I seem to have to watch every carb if I want to "get ripped" - which I am trying to go for before I leave for Ixtapa next month.
